Why Shore Jigging
Our fishing club has built expertise through years of coastal research, seasonal observation, and hands-on testing across Turkish waters. Here's what sets our approach apart:
Lure Weight, Retrieve & Tide Strategy
Lure Weight & Selection
Shore jigging success begins with matching lure weight to water depth, current speed, and target species. In shallow rocky zones (2–6 meters), use 7–15g jigs for precise bottom contact. Deeper channels (8–15 meters) demand 20–35g weights to maintain control and feel. Our fishing shop partners stock proven profiles: slim metal jigs for fast-moving species, shad-pattern soft plastics for bass and grouper.
Retrieve Rhythm Principles
Effective retrieve rhythm varies by species and conditions. Fast, aggressive jigging (2–3 lifts per second) triggers strikes from mackerel and bonito. Slower, methodical bouncing (1 lift per second) works better for grouper and larger bass. Pause between lifts—often the strike comes during the fall. Adapt rhythm based on water temperature, clarity, and seasonal activity patterns tracked by our fishing club.
Tide-Aware Trip Preparation
Tidal flow directly impacts lure presentation and fish feeding behavior. Plan ice fishing or summer sessions around slack water (first 30 minutes after tide turn) when fish are most aggressive. Rising tides concentrate baitfish and predators near structure. Falling tides push fish into deeper channels. Our seasonal content calendar guides you through Turkish coastal tidal windows year-round.
Seasonal Scope & Content Workflow
Turkish coastal waters shift dramatically across seasons. Our fishing club editorial calendar tracks these windows, ensuring you always have timely guidance for planning and execution:
Spring (March–May)
Water temperatures rise; mackerel and bonito return to shallow zones. Shore jigging peaks with 10–20g lures. Our fishing shop partners stock spring-specific patterns. Ice fishing transitions to open-water techniques. Tidal windows expand as daylight lengthens.
Summer (June–August)
Peak season for shore jigging. Early morning and evening sessions dominate due to heat. Deeper rocky channels hold larger grouper and bass. Lure weights increase to 25–40g. Seasonal guides focus on heat-adapted retrieve rhythm and shade-seeking fish behavior.
Autumn (September–November)
Water cools; baitfish schools return near shore. Mackerel and bonito feed aggressively. Our fishing club tracks migration patterns. Lure selection shifts back to 12–25g weights. Tidal influence strengthens as weather patterns shift.
Winter (December–February)
Coldest season brings ice fishing opportunities in sheltered bays. Grouper and larger bass move deeper. Shore jigging requires heavier lures (30–50g) and slower retrieves. Our fishing shop guides winter-specific tactics and safety protocols.
